In depth

Verdict

EIGHTEEN CARAT carries a penalty for his win at Aintree in November, but has shown enough in a couple of subsequent starts to suggest he can return to winning ways here. He was conceding plenty of weight to the winner Cloudy Two when runner-up at Sedgefield last time but had the rest well behind. Jago River won over today's trip at Musselburgh before disappointing over a longer distance at Carlisle last month and looks the main danger to the selection, though dual bumper winner Lovey Dovey showed promise on her hurdling bow and she should figure. Hannah Jacques could prove best of the rest.
