Verdict

An interesting sprint handicap and from a shortlist containing Onlytime Will Tell, King's Caprice, Danzig River, Chateau Nicol and Mr Lambros, we will opt for King's Caprice. The selection comes here in good heart following a very good second at Newmarket over seven furlongs last time. Given that he is set to rise four pounds in the ratings shortly, he looks well weighted based on that and, with the going posing no problems, looks a worthy choice. Much as Onlytime Will Tell is eight pounds above a winning mark, he put in a very good effort in the Ayr Gold Cup last time - King's Caprice was behind him on that occasion - and comes well into the reckoning based on that. Danzig River is weighted to get the better of Saristar based on Newmarket form in April and, with his stable in form, could go well, while Chateau Nicol is just two pounds above the mark from which she won over seven furlongs here recently and acts on soft going. Mr Lambros could be interesting as he was an eyecatcher two runs ago at Ascot but then ran ran poorly at Epsom. However, he will be more at home on this track and, despite the fact that he is unproven on soft, could go well. Overall, the others probably have to improve again to score, although Marsad is well weighted on 2002 form. However, for us today the choice is King's Caprice.
