Verdict

Dr Jameson and Very Distinguished set the standard on form but we'll take Felday to improve past them whilst the market should be useful with regard to the newcomers. Hughie Morrison's youngsters usually benefit from their first racecourse experience and there were plenty of positives to be taken from the run of this son of Bahamian Bounty. The race came over this course and distance and the winner was due to contest a Group 3 at York this week whilst the fifth won nicely next time. The form looks solid and Felday shouldn't be inconvenienced by the ground. Dr Jameson went close on fast ground at Redcar and should handle this ground but his trainer has a poor record at this venue. Very Distinguished ran well in a fair race for the track at Folkestone and could have a say in the outcome. There are a host of interesting newcomers to consider and likely candidates include Ready For Battle, Omnium Duke and Screaming Brave but unless one of the debutants attracts marked support we'll be happy to side with Felday.
