Verdict

Despite his advancing years and a serious pelvic injury sustained when favourite for this event twelve months ago, Bishops Court appears at least as good as ever on recent evidence and is the TEAMtalk pick. Lynda Ramsden's evergreen performer had Needwood Blade (fourth), Autumnal (fifth), and Vita Spericolata (sixth) all behind when an impressive Listed winner over this trip at Doncaster's Leger meeting yet meets this trio on better terms so can confirm the placings. The eight-year-old possesses a sharp turn of foot and, provided the ground is not too quick, he should prove too strong for his rivals. Boleyn Castle has proved most progressive this year and landed a competitive Ascot handicap in good style in July but has not been seen out since and, along with the trailblazing Smokin Beau, may well set the race up for the selection. The Trader has been below form of late but Agnetha has claims on her Group 3 win at Goodwood last month and did not get the best of runs on her latest start so should not be dismissed lightly under a 3lb penalty.
