Verdict

An Arc trial in name only with the last two winners of the race lining up. With Multidimensional the class act in the field it all but sums up the quality of it but Henry Cecil's three year old has performed with real credit this season despite not being up to quality of his rivals on some occasions. Fourth in the Irish Champion Stakes last time out, he relished the testing ground on offer at Haydock when deservedly landing the Rose Of Lancaster Stakes on his penultimate start. Fast ground conditions have been cited for his disappointing performances and he should have too much class for these. Spanish Moon is lightly raced but has six lengths to find on Multidimensional from their Haydock clash. He missed last season with a pelvic injury so any drying of the ground would not favour him while he has also shown signs of temperament on more than one occasion. Blue Monday did not look suited by the sharp nature of Kempton's 12 furlongs last time. His last victory was achieved in this contest two years ago when he was rated 117. Now rated 107 it well have been that he was still ring rusty at Kempton as it was only his second outing since returning from a spell in Australia where he finished a creditable seventh in the 2007 Melbourne Cup. Halicarnassus, winner of this race last year, was not disgraced in the Juddmonte International and only for that blip last time at Kempton would look far more appealing. Illustrious Blue finished second in that Kempton contest and that was a return to form from him. MULTIDIMENSIONAL is selected to land his second Group 3 victory of the season.
