Verdict

Grey Granite is the unknown quantity here but has been off the track for some time so we'll turn to PUTRA ONE ahead of Aspro Mavro and Itlaaq. Michael Jarvis has started the season well and his gelding ran well on his two starts in handicaps last year. He's been dropped a pound for this return and remains capable of better at what should be his optimum trip. Aspro Mavro won a maiden at Yarmouth last time and that should have boosted his confidence ahead of this return to handicap company. He ran well off this mark prior to that victory and must have place claims at the very least. Itlaaq is 13lbs higher than when he gained his only victory but should be capable of better as he matures and can't be ruled out along with Forte Dei Marmi who looks a typical Luca Cumani improver. Franco Is My Name wasn't beaten too far last time but the handicapper may have him now and he's had a lot of racing lately, Elliptical offered little on his return and Foxhaven is a fragile sort who might need dropping a few pounds along with better ground. A wide-open finale that may just go the way of Putra One.
