Verdict

Richard Hannon's record in this race leads us to side with CANFORD CLIFFS in a race that could be dominated by newcomers although it's worth noting that Clan Piper was made favourite for his debut at this track. He failed to fire then and may prove capable of much better but the jury is out at present as it is for Ant Music who was hampered at the start at Newmarket. Richard Hannon runs two strong contenders with jockey bookings suggesting that Canford Cliffs is ahead of Poltergeist in the pecking order but it wouldn't be wise to stick rigidly to that theory. The market has provided a decent guide to Tom Dascombe's two year olds this season so a keen eye should be kept on the movements of Barzan given his trainer's strike rate at this venue. Rakaan also jumps off the page and is bred to be a fast juvenile; Jamie Spencer was aboard a gambled on newcomer from the yard at Newmarket which may suggest that this one will be ready to fire. They are by no means the only contenders but we'll take Canford Cliffs to provide Richard Hannon with his fourth success in the race from the last ten runnings.
