Verdict

ALANBROOKE will need to go close from a mark of 78 to justify his Group race entry and we fancy him to do so. Dangers abound but include Brunston and Swinging Sixties. Mark Johnston's colt ran green on debut in a Sandown maiden won by classic hope Four Winds but showed the benefit of that run when narrowly prevailing at Nottingham. The form looks solid, he's crying out for this longer trip and this is his chosen target from a number of entries. Branston has been involved in the finish on both starts this season and should have a say in the outcome here as he's progressing along the right lines. Ultimate was behind him at Salisbury but rates a danger with the swing in the weights in his favour, particularly if it rains. Swinging Sixties has a little more to prove following a disappointing return to action but it would be no surprise to see him leave that form behind in due course. Solar Graphite, Simon Gray and Decorum are three more to note but the one that we want to be with is Alanbrooke.
