In depth

Verdict

In the opener, we like the look of Laith, although Genari, Murfeesboro, Zabeel Valley and Championship Point are among those that have to be respected. Laith cost 200,000 guineas and he showed plenty of promise on his debut when fourth at Newmarket. Normal improvement from that should see him competitive here. Mick Channon's Championship Point cost 85,000 guineas and is another to consider, while Amanda Perrett's Elusive Warrior is one to have a look at in the betting. A similar comment applies to the locally-trained Genari, and it would be no surprise to see Richard Hannon's Golden Acer in the shake-up as his horses are going well. The John Gosden-trained Murfeesboro is related to plenty of quick horses so he too has to be considered, and Ed Dunlop's Zabeel House has plenty to like on breeding and is another to give some thought to. However, for the winner, we will stick with Laith.
