Verdict

Although RAIN GOD only won narrowly at Leopardstown last week he had plenty in hand and it's no surprise to see him reappearing quickly with a penalty. Today's extra furlong should suit and he looks better than an 89-rated handicapper so should complete a quick double. General Brook looks a real threat after his fine handicap debut behind Zalty at Leopardstown and he's another who should make further progress through the ratings. Connacht Council had beaten Zalty over 7f here earlier so has to enter the equation from the bottom of the handicap. Mordanmijobsworth couldn't quite defy a 9lb rise in the weights at Gowran though was only just beaten and is on the upgrade. Daymooma made a winning handicap debut at Ballinrobe and a 5lb rise shouldn't pose too much of a problem.
