In depth

Verdict

Crescent made an encouraging start in a strong Leopardstown maiden but was always struggling on much faster ground at Gowran. Dunquin is related to several useful winners and made a very promising start over 6f at the Curragh where he gave notice that an extra furlong was required. He'll go well but there are some interesting newcomers on show including Sacrificial, whose dam has produced winners with her first three foals. It's difficult to separate the two Ballydoyle newcomers and jockey bookings offer no clues. St Patricks Day is bred for this trip as a juvenile and like TORREY PINES has an entry in the Group 1 National Stakes. The latter is by Galileo and the fourth foal of a mare who has already produced three winning juveniles so he's handed the vote in a race that should provide clues for the future.
