In depth

Verdict

A cracking prize has brought out a fine line-up including a trio of Mark Johnston entries who have been in superb form on the all-weather. Almargo has completed a hat-trick but has never raced over a trip this far and is 10lb higher while Swivel has won four of his last five and has only been raised 1lb for his victory at Wolverhampton. Bow Creek was the outsider of three in a Listed contest at Lingfield last time but made all for a comfortable success and he's the type to keep on progressing. Roachdale House ended his first campaign with victory in a Doncaster handicap but isn't certain at these weights to finish in front of stablemate Ventura Quest, who made all in a Catterick nursery in October. Extra Noble scored twice at Kempton and was staying on well in a 7f Group 3 at Newbury on his final start. He should be well enough forward as should Cool Bahamian, who contested better races after winning two of his first three last term. Ticking Katie ran some fine races last season and has the benefit of a run in January but the vote in an open contest goes to BILIMBI, who did well to land a Yarmouth maiden over 7f as he's bred for further and begins in handicaps on what could prove a lenient mark.
