In depth

Verdict

Flipando, United Nations and Penrith are three to concentrate on here and the vote is given to Penrith. The selection ran really well last time when second behind Nevada Desert at Hamilton. He had failed to see out the trip on his previous run and had been unlucky in running prior to that. He has conditions to suit here and he is racing over his optimum trip so looks to have a really good opportunity to get his head in front. Flipando rates the main danger as this great big gelding from the David Barron yard still looks to be improving, and although he was beaten over 7 furlongs by My Paris last time, he was doing his best work at the finish and should be suited by the step up in trip. United Nations is a well-bred colt from the David Loder yard and he really caught the eye when winning the Wood Ditton stakes at Newmarket in July. However, he was disappointing last time out and that run will have to be forgiven if he is to be supported on this occasion. Mrs Moh is the other worthy of consideration as she relished the step up to this trip when winning well at Haydock last month when defeating Inchloss. However, Penrith has had his fair share of bad luck recently and if he gets the race run to suit he could take plenty of beating.
