In depth

Verdict

SLEEP IN FIRST has been expertly placed by James Ewart to win eight races over hurdles and fences. He couldn't handle the step-up in class at Wetherby but back in his right grade and with his rider claiming 7lb he can get back on the winning trail. Final Assault is generally consistent though usually on much softer ground than he's likely to face here. Oscatara came from Ireland with a big reputation but has been a disappointment so far and has tackled this trip three times and been pulled up on each occasion. Billy Cuckoo landed a higher grade event at Doncaster in February but has been badly out of form while Silver Shuffle is still a maiden after 28 starts over jumps though arrives on a more lenient mark than over hurdles.
