    Verdict

Mick Channon's runners are going well at present and he can make the long trip north pay off with Malapropism in this relatively uncompetitive handicap. The selection carries top weight but he has earned that with some very consistent form and he was rewarded for that with a Windsor handicap success last time. He did the job with something in hand then and he can defy a 5lb rise to follow up. Whinhill House just got the verdict over Dark Champion at Thirsk last time in an apprentice handicap and escapes without penalty here. David Barker's gelding has already won over c&d in May and can give the selection most to do. Hawaii Prince is 3lb higher than when winning at Catterick earlier in the campaign and probably needs to drop back to that mark to get his nose in front, while Toy Top has frame claims and Strensall likes it here so cannot be totally dismissed, but Malapropism can be rewarded for consistency with back-to-back wins.
