Verdict

MAHBOOBA was mightily impressive in the 1000 Guineas and can complete the classic double with the minimum of fuss. Mike De Kock's filly had been beaten by stablemate Reem in the Guineas trial but had no problem reversing the form over the extra furlong and should be even better suited by this trip. Electric Waves was an absolute flyer for Ed McMahon last year and gained her fourth and most impressive success in the Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes at Ascot. This is almost twice as far as she's ever raced previously and connections are taking a big gamble that she stays. Khawlah was odds-on when landing a Newmarket maiden over a mile in September and was unsuited by the soft ground when dropping in trip in a Group 3 at Newmarket subsequently. She should do better this year and may pose the biggest danger as Abtasaamah is held by the selection on both starts this season.
