In depth

Verdict

Losing Grip can make the most of the weight that he receives from St Pancras, with It Would Appear and Dramatic Review best of the remainder. Despite the size of the field, not that many line up with a serious chance of collecting the prize, and as the first two mentioned both have recent winning form, they look the obvious pair to fight out the finish. Losing Grip hails from a stable that simply churns out the winners round here, and this seven-year-old bids for his second course-and-distance victory, having made all to score in selling company in April. He put in a similar performance when successful at Bangor last month, and as this race is not much better, will surely make his presence felt here. St Pancras, a winner on the level for Neville Callaghan in 2004, went AWOL for 12 months, but did nothing wrong when taking a Sedgefield maiden on just his third outing for Chris Bealby, and would appear to be the main danger to the selection on that effort. It Would Appear has been off since February, and this slow maturing sort is basically a chaser in the making, while Dramatic Review is still a maiden both on the Flat and over jumps, and may find conditions too fast anyway. The rest make little or no appeal, and we take Losing Grip to make all.
