In depth

Verdict

Dream Catcher is taken to benefit from his initial hurdling experience and land this weak maiden hurdle where Le Soleil and possibly Saviour Sand appear the main threats. The Oliver Sherwood trained Dream Catcher was formerly a decent flat performer in Sweden and made a pleasing racecourse debut when finishing third at Plumpton travelling well before weakening in the closing stages. He did show a tendency to pull quite hard in that contest and will need to learn to settle but quicker ground conditions should aid his cause in seeing out the 2m trip. Support for Le Soleil should be taken seriously given his connections but he would need to step up dramatically on what he showed first time out over obstacles earlier this month. It would not be the first time that a horse from these quarters showed dramatic improvement and the market will inform of what is expected. Paddy Brennan is an interesting jockey booking for the David Elsworth hurdling debutant Saviour Sand, rated in the 70s on the flat. Whether he will get the trip is the question. Dream Catcher gets the nomination to land the opener.
