Verdict

COLONIAL JIM was due to race on Sunday but is clearly a long way ahead of the handicapper and rates the one to beat if allowed to take his chance. If he fails to make the line-up or suffers a mishap at the weekend then Little Shilling could be the one to take advantage. Colonial Jim landed a touch when having his first start for this trainer at Fontwell and the outcome was never really in doubt as he won by eight lengths and twenty six. There's always the chance that his exertions will catch up with him but his trainer's intentions are clear in declaring him for this contest. Little Shilling is another runner making a quick reappearance following his win in a Fakenham seller. He never came off the bridle and won as he liked in East Anglia and his presence makes this a more intriguing contest than may have otherwise been the case. Those two stand out but it's interesting to see the services of Liam Heard obtained for Charlie Poole whilst Simple Glory arrives in good form and has to be considered. Orchard House and Linlithgow were the two nearest pursuers to the selection last time and could finish in the money but it's difficult to see why they should reverse the placings with Colonial Jim.
