Verdict

These three-year-olds will need some improvement to be seriously considered for the Arc but Andre Fabre has won four of the last eight renewals of this including with Rail Link in 2006, the sire of LAST TRAIN. The latter was beaten only a head in the Group 1 Grand Prix De Paris over C&D by Ballydoyle's Imperial Monarch in July and his 20/1 odds for the Arc will shorten considerably if he wins this prize. He's taken to reverse an earlier nose defeat by Smoking Sun and Saonois also has the beating of the former on his French Derby win at Chantilly where he had Kesampour behind. Bayrir arrives on the back of a successful trip to Arlington where he won the Secretariat Stakes in good style and Alain De Royer-Dupre's colt should stay this longer trip but Remus De La Tour will need a bit more after winning a Group 3 race in June by a neck.
