Verdict

A competitive race for an excellent prize though none of the contestants have won over the course and distance. Muirhead wasn't beaten far in the race a year ago and is 5lb lower though he hasn't been running well and was pulled up in the race won by Jacksonslady at Galway in July. The winner had been well beaten here last year but was very well supported at Galway where she had been aimed at the Plate only to miss the cut. She's expected to go well but it's Plate runner-up BURN AND TURN who can go one better here. Jessica Harrington's mare had been raised 8lb for her previous success at Punchestown so it was a cracking run at Galway and a 3lb weight rise shouldn't prove a problem. Usuel Smurfer was also in action at Galway where he just failed to concede 21lb to Aranhill Chief. He's a very progressive young chaser who has to be on the shortlist while at the other end of the age scale John Kiely's veteran On The Way Out could have another good race in him after gaining the eighth victory of his career at Tramore. It's difficult to dismiss any of the remainder in what should be a cracking contest.
