Verdict

The veteran Mahrajaan, a winner over fences in July, showed he wasn't finished on the Flat just yet by defying a slow start to score at Down Royal on Friday and a 5lb penalty is easily cancelled out by Tom Madden's claim. Nidhaam made most and battled on strongly to land a 1m2f maiden at Clonmel and a mark of 68 for his handicap debut doesn't look too taxing. Windward Passage looked progressive when coming with a late run to score over 1m2f at Down Royal so it was a surprise to see him over a mile at Killarney last time. The very lightly-raced CROWN OF ARAGON was a couple of lengths behind in that Down Royal event on his first start for Andy Oliver and on his handicap debut. He's the type to make further progress and is handed the verdict in an open race where Jim Bolger's hat-trick seeking Gold Focus looks a big threat despite a 7lb rise for last month's Wexford victory.
