In depth

Verdict

JACK OF DIAMONDS was fancied to make a winning return in better company than this over track and trip earlier this month and nearly did so. He just failed to catch Monsieur Chevalier and can go one better today as he also enjoys a fitness edge over Kempton maiden winner Net Whizz, though the latter is not easily dismissed on his first start since November. Haftohaf may do better back on Polytrack but the likes of Lastkingofscotland, Kinglami and Avertis will all need to improve stepping up in class despite arriving in good form. Wilfred Pickles is a rare winner nowadays though back on a decent mark if at his best.
