In depth

Verdict

In the second division of the opener winning form is just as hard to come by but the vote goes to the frustrating THABAAT with Upstairs and Very Well Red also in with more than decent chances. The pick is on a losing run of form that stretches back to April 2007 but was flattered by a ludicrously high rating, which is now at a much more realistic 55. Despite the losing run the four-year-old has shown in the last few efforts that he's running into form and he looks ready to finally score again. Upstairs is an unexposed gelding from Dominic Elsworth's stable with just eight races under his belt. Those starts have so far have been solid but not spectacular but he might finally be getting towards a winning mark. Very Well Red has just come through a dip in form that saw this mare drop to as low as 46 in the official ratings when trying blinkers. Since their removal she has improved and landed a runners-up spot last time on the sand at Southwell over distance. It's hard to be confident in this horse l but the idea of winning a contest like this is not that far fetched. Jordi Roper and Rosies Cross have shown enough in their last two starts to give them place claims but it looks time for Thabaat to end that long losing run.
