In depth

Verdict

Wide Receiver will probably start favourite here off the back of a couple of easy wins at Wetherby. He's 14lb higher than his latest success, however, and this is quite a competitive handicap chase by the track's normal standards. Near The Water and Goring One have already won on the course but the latter tries this longer trip for the first time and has shot up the weights so preference is for the potentiayl well-handicapped MONBEG DUDE. He's been kept to hurdles so far under Rules but will surely step up on that form now tackling fences as he's already won a point-to-point in Ireland. Credit Crunched is another interesting newcomer to chasing but may have a little too much weight on this occasion.
