In depth

Verdict

John Long's Cativo Cavallino ran creditably back on turf at Yarmouth recently and has claims racing off a 1lb lower mark today but he looks booked for a place at best in a race taken to go to AEGEAN SHADOW, who is preferred to Miss Hollybell. John Gallagher's gelding has improved with each start this term and won well at Ffos Las earlier this month but a 6lb rise for that success makes this more difficult for the four-year-old, although she has to be respected and will be tough to beat if she can improve again. Another Try seems a shade high in the weights at present and of more interest may be Jim Best's Lastkingofscotland, who has been running consistently well this term and reverts to six furlongs for only the second time in his career, having won at Folkestone two starts ago on his only previous attempt at the distance. Sherjawy is capable over six furlongs but is probably better over the minimum trip and preference is for Aegean Shadow. Henry Cecil's filly won on her debut in a Leicester maiden in July before disappointing in a handicap at Kempton but she has been given time since then and may be worth backing on her reappearance now that the stable is in such good form.
