In depth

Verdict

A wide open handicap rounds off the card and many would have chances on their best form, but the principals look to be Red Contact, Anuvasteel and Admiral Compton and the tentative vote is given to Red Contact. The selection has been running well without winning of late but he was a fair second behind Penwell Hill last time. He remains on the same mark here and from what looks a good draw he will be hard to beat. Anuvasteel rates the main danger on his latest third behind Cherished Number but he just gave the impression the handicapper had caught up with him and for that reason he is passed over on this occasion. Admiral Compton is another worthy of respect on his best form as he looks well weighted but he may just need the run after an 88-day break. Steely Dan is another that would have a chance on his best form but he was very disappointing last time out for no apparent reason so he can not be put forward with any confidence. Of the remainder Takes Tutu is from a shrewd yard and is worth noting in the market, but for the winner we return to Red Contact.
