In depth

Verdict

Ostentation arrives in search of the hat-trick but he's left Mark Johnston since last winning and that yard's GINGER JACK can deny him in this trappy affair, with Marosh also a big player. Our selection is bred to leave his juvenile form behind now turning three and showed that may well play out when winning a Kempton maiden. Clearly, at this stage in his career a mile is ideal and whilst this mark of 77 appears stiff enough it'd be no surprise were his in-form handler to eke out more improvement. Ostentation won here off a mark of 56 in January in a race that has worked out well, but a 10lb rise following his latest win combined with the switch in surface and yards is enough to see us turn our attentions elsewhere. Marosh is put forward as the one most likely to land the hat-trick with this step up in trip set to suit. An 8lb rise in the ratings makes life tougher though and we prefer the less exposed profile of Ginger Jack. Khanivorous won a Kempton maiden in facile fashion but he's not found the handicap ranks so suitable despite some good efforts, with a 3lb rise for defeat looking a shade harsh and this could well be a better race. Muwalla makes his debut on the polytrack and doesn't appear well-treated off 82 and with the consistent Transfixed hiding nothing from the assessor we'll return to Ginger Jack.
