Verdict

Yourgolftravel Com is by far the most interesting runner here and if support arrived it'd surely pay to take notice, but without that benefit we'll side with PIPER'S PIPING ahead of Castleburg. Paul Howling's runner was well backed to score last time and duly obliged by a cosy three lengths-plus under today's rider. He races here under a 6lb penalty but that wouldn't have stopped the victory at Wolverhampton, one that came on Monday, so if he brings that level of performance to Lingfield he'll take some stopping. One that could do just that is Castleburg. Gary Moore's filly is unexposed and a mark of 60 is one connections will no doubt hope proves generous and on evidence so far this trip is ideal. Her third placed effort last time came in a similar race and further progress is likely, but today she faces a bang in-form rival and one who could prove thrown in; Yourgolftravel Com. Michael Wigham's runner is a handicap debutant having shown little so far but his record of landing gambles with this type of horse is enviable and the market will tell us all we need to know about the stable's confidence. Towy Boy is exposed as modest having had 35 starts without success, so whilst this is hardly competitive the gelding still has to show he can get the job done. Sovereignty has done much of his winning at this trip but none of it has come here, though in fairness the gelding was beaten a short head off a higher mark over course and distance back in 2006. He's got each way claims of sorts along with Amber Sunset who remains well-treated on the pick of her turf form, although that was some time ago. Top Flight Splash won a dreadful affair last time but the handicapper has recognised that in fairness by only putting David Evans' charge up 3lbs, so in a competitive handicap she's another that could pop up. However, the claims of Piper's Piping are entirely more solid than all of his rivals and he gets our vote.
