Verdict

Dorothy's Friend looks to be the percentage call ahead of Prins Willem and Bulwark. Roger Charlton's representative has had his training troubles but when sound, he has looked a progressive handicapper and it could be worth chancing that the handler has him match fit today. Prins Willem made very hard work of it at Kempton over two miles but he is a capable, if not completely straight-forward conveyance and any market confidence should not be ignored. Bulwark finished behind Dorothy's Friend at Newcastle and was arguably given much too much to do on that occasion. This track can suit back runners so it would be no surprise to see the pair finish closer on this occasion. Ski Jump lowered the colours of The Nawab at York but more is required in this bigger field. Elusive Dream contributed to his own downfall by pulling much too hard in the early stages of his most recent run at Royal Ascot. Solent has shaped as if a step up to this trip should not inconvenience while Finalmente is related to all-weather winners and has an interesting jockey booking. A valuable race by all-weather standards and one that can go the way of Dorothy's Friend.
