The longer trip may enable KATHINDI to shed her maiden tag and there may be more value in siding with her than Cosimo De Medici or Mary Helen. The selection has only finished out of the frame once in five career starts and ran well enough in a handicap over a mile at the beginning of December to believe that she can win races from this mark. She needs to improve for this longer trip but her pedigree offers hope that she can do so. Cosimo De Medici appeared to relish the fibresand surface to open his account at the fourth attempt but it's probably also true that he appreciated the step up to a mile from six furlongs. He shouldn't have any problem with the extra quarter of a mile on offer but he still has to prove as effective on this surface. Captain Cool ran well at Kempton but appears reluctant to put his head in front whilst Mary Helen appears to be in the grip of the handicapper and may prefer a return to claiming company. That said, she couldn't be confidently dismissed in a race where it may pay to take a chance with Kathindi.
