Verdict

A competitive opener in which Buddhist Monk is selected ahead of Red Kestrel and Street Crime. The selection ran a solid enough race behind a 77-rated performer at Hamilton last time out and may well have won had Seb Sanders not dropped his whip at a vital stage. The trip is of no concern today. Red Kestrel shaped with a degree of promise on introduction at Leicester. He beat his better fancied stablemate and did enough to suggest he'll be claiming a maiden soon enough. Street Crime does have a suspiciously high head carriage. That said, his yard have been among the winners in the last month. Futurity will be better served in handicaps. Marsh Court attempts to graduate from bumpers to a flat maiden. Pinnacle Point is exposed and it would be disappointing were he to be good enough to take this. Buddhist Monk gets the nod.
