Verdict

Purple 'n Gold was asked to raced alone on the stands' side at Newmarket last time but the tactics proved a dismal failure and he returned a well-beaten odds-on favourite. Better is expected here though he's yet to encounter slow ground so a punt is taken on KING'S MASQUE. He'd made good progress before injury in 2010 with five wins to his name and, after a recent comeback at Windsor, a chance is taken he can return to his best today. Reaction has been well beaten over hurdles since landing a fast ground seller over C&D in May but Marvo won on the Polytrack here in March and has claims on that form. Rock Band looks best of the rest.
