    Verdict

It is a very difficult start for punters with at least half a dozen in with a chance, we have narrowed it down to three, Mayzin, Lucius Verrus and Adantino, with the latter just getting the nod. Rod Millman's gelding finally got his head in front over course and distance last week at the 27th attempt. It may have only been a banded race but he won with a bit to spare, and now he knows where the winners enclosure is he could run up a sequence. Mayzin was also successful for the first time last week beating La Peregrina in a class D maiden and should go close again despite his welter burden. Lucius Verrus has decent form on all three artificial tracks, including an excellent second here behind Gun Salute over six furlongs, form that puts him bang in the picture. Alafzar and Lord Melbourne also boast decent Lingfield form, but in a race that takes some evaluating, Adantino may just have the edge.
