    Verdict

Vortex ran a blinder when third in the Lincoln last week but faces no easy task giving weight away all round and, in receipt of a stone, preference is for Prince Tum Tum ahead of Cape Fear. The last mentioned holds solid claims at his best but looked short of that in a curtailed campaign last term and is probably best watched at present. Lygeton Lad, a stablemate of Vortex, has not been at his best this winter but showed signs of a revival over course and distance last time and cannot be discounted. Bahiano needs to improve on recent evidence, while Psychiatrist may need this on his reappearance so a safer bet looks to be Prince Tum Tum. Gerard Butler's gelding confirmed his current wellbeing with a fine effort in defeat at Warwick recently and should have little difficulty with the switch back to the all-weather.
