In depth

Verdict

BRIEF LOOK can make her mark in the handicap ranks at the first attempt with Putra One and Kansai Spirit the dangers. Maslak and Norman The Great have been running well but they look vulnerable to the younger generation although Evident Pride and Mister New York have dropped to winning marks and General Ting can't be dismissed given his connections. Despite all of that we still believe that the Classic generation can hold sway and it's Henry Cecil's daughter of Sadler's Wells that we think can come up trumps. She bumped into fair sorts Hidden Brief and Ottoman Empire on her first two starts before converting a penalty kick at Kempton. There's a slight concern that she could become outpaced but that's offset by a handicap mark that looks more than fair. Putra One has made steady progress and only needed to be pushed out to land his maiden but the suspicion is that he'll need to improve again to score from a mark that's been dropped by 2lbs since his last run. Becausewecan has been running well in competitive heats without enjoying much luck but the handicapper essentially seems to have his measure and a bigger challenge may come from Kansai Spirit although he didn't appear entirely straightforward last time. That's why we prefer Brief Look.
