MOTRICE remains capable of better and gets the vote to land this, with Red Amy, Oak Leaves and Best Of Broadway others to consider in a fascinating contest. Our selection represents Sir Mark Prescott so it was no surprise to see her well-backed to make a winning handicap debut last time. That race didn't go to plan and she had to settle for a well beaten fifth with Red Amy a length ahead in fourth, but this further step up in trip will surely help her to improve as she's a daughter of Derby winner Motivator and a half-sister to smart middle-distance horse Foreign Affairs. With that in mind and the added help of a 1lb drop in the ratings, she's taken to beat Red Amy this time although Michael Bell's filly should take home prize money. As with our pick, this daughter of Hawk Wing is bred to be better than this level but our concern is she would perhaps be better over 10 furlongs and for that reason she's opposed. In contrast Oak Leaves should be suited by this slight drop in trip having led everywhere bar the line at Chepstow last time out. That was over half a furlong further and off the same mark there's a straightforward case to be made for her. Best Of Broadway isn't as obvious on the form book but David Lanigan's King's Best gelding has the aide of blinkers for the first time and it'd be no surprise were that to bring about plenty of improvement - a market check is strongly recommended. Goldtrek should improve for this step up in distance having stayed on dourly over a mile last time but she doesn't appear thrown-in whilst Captain Clint's best effort came in a claimer. Mick Channon took this last year so Specialising is respected but it may be Sir Mark Prescott's turn to land the spoils with Motrice our selection.
