NEW INNOCENCE gets the nod in a tricky maiden. Pleasant Way and Ebony Boom are forwarded as the best contenders to complete the shortlist. Ebony Boom has experience of this course and seems to be getting better with each run. Henry Cecil had a couple of options for this 75-rated colt, so it may be significant that he comes here rather than wait for a similar race on turf at Nottingham's meeting on Wednesday. Pleasant Way was keen on debut at Yarmouth but showed a bit of promise before tiring near the finish. The run will have taught her plenty and there may be a good deal more to come from the daughter of Barathea. Given the way Godolphin's juveniles have shone towards the end of the season, it would be folly to ignore Sowaylm - a half-brother to a seven furlong winner who makes his debut at an ordinary level. However, New Innocence has the vital edge in terms of experience and, as he is bred to come into his own over a mile, today's step up in trip is expected to bring the best out of the Gerard Butler-trained colt.
