Verdict

Waltzing Cat is still a maiden but came close to that elusive first success over this trip at Fairyhouse where he led at the furlong pole but was caught by The Fox Tully. XSQUARED had shown virtually nothing until storming to victory at Fairyhouse in June for which the assessor took a dim view and raised him 12lb. He showed that to be no fluke with another fine run over a slightly longer trip at Dundalk for which he's been raised another 4lb but he can continue his progress and take this. Beart is inconsistent and his only success has come on Polytrack but Night Singer, though well behind the selection at Fairyhose, ran much better over a mile here a couple of weeks ago and Shane Gray's claim will help.
