Verdict

CLASSIC PUNCH may just get the run of the race here and is consequently given the nod ahead of Young Mick and Mon Michel. The selection drops back in trip having contested the Jockey Club Cup on his latest start and that trip has always seemed to stretch him despite his being a half-brother to Persian Punch. His last outing at this trip saw him try and make all at Newmarket in a Listed race and only Buccellati was able to get past him. He could get the run of the race in front again as Young Mick is a hold-up performer who has enjoyed little luck in running on a number of occasions since last successful in 2006. He's the pick of the weights and won't get many better chances to gain a deserved success but is worth taking on. Mon Michel may just be having this run as a precursor to a hurdling campaign and he is also likely to be held up which leaves Spanish Hidalgo as the potential fly in the ointment. He stays well and could have plenty of use made of him to exploit that and he has made the running in the past. He can be given a chance but we'll stick with Classic Punch.
