Verdict

No three-year-old has won this in the last 10 years but LIGHTNING CLOUD can buck that trend. Kevin Ryan's grey has won three of his four starts this year, including one over C&D in May, and still looks to be on the upgrade. Big Noise is well treated nowadays but has been well below par so far this season, while The Guru Of Gloom didn't beat much in a Beverley maiden last month. Last Sovereign could be interesting, however, as he was second over C&D on his penultimate outing and met all sorts of trouble in-running when favourite at Catterick 15 days ago.
