      Verdict

MARKAZZI did enough on debut to think that he would be winning soon and he's fancied to take his chance; dangers include Cultivar who was two and a half lengths behind him at Newbury and Sand Skier whose yard has a good record in this contest. Sir Michael Stoute also runs Mr Irons, a 425,000 dollar purchase, and Official Style; jockey bookings would suggest that the latter is the first choice and his entries in the Royal Lodge and Dewhurst would back that up. The selection also holds entries in those races as well as a raft of other big race engagements and it will be worth waiting to see how they move in the market in relation to each other. Markazzi has already strutted his stuff on the racecourse and he looked sure to improve for the run at Newbury where he shaped with so much promise. Cultivar ran a similar race and wasn't far behind and, with his connections holding similarly lofty ambitions for their colt, he must be feared. Plenty of use was made of Sand Skier on his debut at Nottingham and he ran well for a way before weakening out of contention. He looks to have something to find on the bare form but his yard has been responsible for three of the last seven winners. Finest Reserve showed a glimmer of ability at Sandown whilst San Cassiano and, in particular, Futurist are other newcomers to note with his yard having been responsible for two recent odds-on winners of this race but Markazzi is expected to justify a prominent position in the market.
