Verdict

Nearest The Pin and Ted Veale represent Tony Martin. The former is warming up for the Galway Hurdle and the latter, a bumper winner on heavy ground in January, looks to have the better chance. Smithfield would be an obvious threat to all on his form of last summer but he ran poorly on his return from a long break at Leopardstown last month. Noble Call is rarely far away but can't get his head in front where it matters nor can Hilary though she hasn't been beaten far in her last three starts. SILVER CHIEF was a disappointing favourite over hurdles at Cork on Friday but her earlier run behind Warwick Avenue at the Curragh has been given a boost and a repeat of that would be good enough for this.
