Verdict

A nice prize and a strong line-up with many of the entries in very good form. It was difficult to know what to make of MYRINE's success by a distance in a Ballinrobe maiden but testing ground and the lack of quality opposition were partly responsible for an astonishing victory. Not surprisingly the handicapper has had his say but it is difficult to oppose her until we see whether that result was a fluke. If it was then Easy Mate looks the best alternative. Dermot Weld's charge stepped up to 2m to beat Don Leone at Galway and his obvious stamina should come into play in what is a competitive affair. Rayhani arrives here with two recent victories over hurdles under his belt and is another with no stamina concerns, a remark that also applies to Bahrain Storm, who produced one of the best performances of an illustrious career when runner-up in the Galway Hurdle last time. The likes of Prince Chaparral and Alpine Eagle make this a tough race to call and the classy Deutschland is no forlorn hope from the top of the weights.
