In depth

Verdict

Orgilgo Bay is progressing into a very useful hurdler though whether he turns up here after his facile victory at Downpatrick on Monday is another matter as the Galway Hurdle will be his main target. If he runs he has to be greatly respected. Xsquared is on a hat-trick after victories at Ballinrobe and Bellewstown though another 8lb rise gives him plenty to do in this better race. Paddy The Celeb couldn't quite concede 6lb to Primroseandblue at Limerick but that was no disgrace and though Long House Hall has been doing his best over longer trips he's progressive enough to make his presence felt. Nearest The Pin arrives on a much lower mark than over fences but he was beaten almost 7l by SIZING ITALY over the bigger obstacles here a year ago and the latter, who ran very well on the Flat at Tramore in May, can revert to hurdling on a 23lb lower mark so Barry Geraghty can steer him home.
