In depth

Verdict

FORTY THIRTY can land this maiden at the main expense of Cardinal James and Soul Singer. Mick Channon's 3-year-old was gelded prior to his most recent run but he ruined his chance by pulling too hard. He was well supported that day and if he can settle better on this occasion then he could be worth another chance. Soul Singer finished just behind our selection in that race here last time, and as that was her racecourse debut it is fair to say that there should be plenty more to come. Cardinal James has shaped with some promise in a couple of bumpers and it will be interesting to see if there is any money for Tor Sturgis' runner today. Rannoch Rose could prove best of the others, but in a race that will not take much winning Forty Thirty is the pick.
