Verdict

DARK EMERALD was outclassed in the Coventry at Royal Ascot in June but his 10 length defeat was still pretty good form in the context of this race. Brendan Powell's colt gets the nod ahead of another all-weather debutant in Mission Approved. He was sent off favourite for his introduction at Newmarket but never threatened and has some catching up to do to match the selection. Royal Prize, Alcaeus and Keep Calm should finish closer without looking good enough to win and Flying Tempo is a newcomer to note.
