In depth

Verdict

Bienheureux can make consistency pay at the expense of Tavalu, Synonymy and Critical Stage. Bienheureux is now fully exposed, but hopefully the step up in trip will bring out the best in Gay Kelleway's charge. A beaten favourite at Souhwell last time, he goes well on this Polytrack surface, and in truth this class 6 contest will not take much winning. Tavalu has been off the track since August, but if anywhere near fit can benefit from this drop in class, while Synonymy is one of just four runners here that bids to make amends after being a costly flop last time. Critical Stage is better known for his jumping exploits, but ran very well round here last month, and with the trainer's son on board again, he may make the frame at least. However, for the winner we return to Bienheureux.
