In depth

Verdict

JOURNEYMAN started a short-priced favourite on his debut at Worcester in May but never got into the action until the race was all over. He can take this as he'll know more about the game this time. Lord Kennedy also made his debut a Worcester and produced an excellent performance to finish a close runner-up to Eastlake. He's a real staying type who is certain to improve. Spe Salvi, a winner at Newton Abbot in July, was long odds-on to follow-up at Fontwell in September but showed her wayward tendencies by veering across the track and unshipping her rider. Mintiverdi hasn't been seen since landing a bumper here in February of last year but a long absence is never a concern for runners from this yard. Tazzarine makes a quick reappearance after making all in a Southwell bumper a couple of weeks ago and is on the short-list while Aldiva and The Tracey Shuffle are well-connected newcomers from stable's that are always respected in these races.
