Verdict

The step up in trip is a big question mark for Red Rudy, whilst Torch Of Freedom is yet to totally convince and so the vote goes to the tried and tested WESTERN ROOTS. Andrew Balding's gelding returns from a break but he has gone ok fresh before. He is a straightforward ride (often amateur ridden) and his starlet jockey has developed a good relationship with him (three wins together). Top Seed has won here before but Ian Williams' gelding doesn¿t come here in the best of form, comments that also apply to Torch Of Freedom. His sole win came over six furlongs and whilst his pedigree suggests he should get this trip ok, he is yet to fully convince and despite being well-treated at these weights he is taken on. Red Rudy has never won past seven furlongs so whilst he evidently likes this place, the son of Pivotal is passed over and we will side with Western Roots.
